Hanoi strengthens social distancing measures as community infections rise

From 0:00 on July 19, public passenger transport by road from Hanoi to 37 cities and provinces and vice versa will be temporarily suspended, except for contracted vehicles carrying experts, employees of agencies, industrial parks, and export processing zones.

These provinces and cities include Ha Nam, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, and 33 cities and provinces from the centrla province of Thua Thien-Hue to the south, of which 14 have issued social distancing measures since July 8.

If after 14 consecutive days there are no recorded cases of COVID-19 in the community, the measures will be lifted.

According to Dispatch No.15/CD-UBND published on July 18, to proactively control the risk of infection and disease outbreaks in the community, the city has applied urgent measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 from 0:00 July 19.

Accordingly, all non-essential services were suspended. Business and services that are allowed to continue include factories, production facilities, traffic works, construction, essential goods business establishments (food, fuel, pharmaceuticals, electricity, water), educational institutions, service businesses related to banking and supporting business activities, as well as postal, telecommunications, and funeral services. Food businesses are required to only sell takeaways.

These businesses and services are allowed to continue making medical declarations with a QR Code.

People at trade centres and supermarkets have to ensure the implementation of 5K measures, minimising close contact during transactions. The online delivery model is encouraged.

Besides, all agencies and companies were directed to proactively develop a plan to work online, split shifts, and arrange that no more than half of their employees are on-site at any time.

People are asked to minimise travel to and from Hanoi to other provinces and cities. People from other provinces and cities moving to the capital shall make medical declarations as soon as they enter the city.

Weddings need to be temporarily delayed while funerals can accommodate no more than 30 people and must be strictly supervised by the local health authority.
