Corine Tap, president of Royal FrieslandCampina in Asia, expressed pride in the company’s achievement, stating, “We are honoured to receive the EuroCham Sustainability Award 2024 in the Sustainovation Value Chain category. This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of our teams who are devoted to embedding sustainability into every facet of our operations. From our energy-efficient dairy plants in Malaysia and Indonesia to our partnerships with local communities in Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines, we are reducing emissions, optimising energy use, and promoting responsible nutrition every step of the way.”
Tap highlighted several notable accomplishments across the region, including FrieslandCampina’s Cikarang plant in Indonesia, which has reduced CO₂ emissions by 45 per cent through innovative solutions such as solar panels, biomass boilers, and advanced water management systems.
In Malaysia, FrieslandCampina’s new plant at Bandar Enstek is set to achieve a 30 per cent reduction in energy and water consumption by 2030, reflecting the company's ambitious targets towards sustainability.
“This award is a testament to our commitment to tackling malnutrition in Asia while building a brighter, greener future for all. It belongs to every FrieslandCampina colleague whose passion turns vision into action,” Tap said.

In Vietnam, FrieslandCampina has long been recognised as a leader in sustainable manufacturing practices and community-focused initiatives. The company was one of the first foreign enterprises to adopt green manufacturing in Vietnam, aiming to minimise emissions and contribute to community wellbeing through sustainable growth. This strategy is implemented through renewable energy use, water conservation, and recycling initiatives.
As early as 2019, FrieslandCampina Vietnam was among the nine founding members of the Packaging Recycling Organization Vietnam (PRO Vietnam), a coalition of businesses dedicated to enhancing recycling efforts and promoting a circular economy.
Together with eight other companies, FrieslandCampina co-founded the PRO Vietnam to help establish a comprehensive network of waste collectors and recyclers across the country. Through this network, the PRO Vietnam supports its members, including FrieslandCampina, in meeting their extended producer responsibility obligations cost-effectively.

As a result of these collective efforts, FrieslandCampina Vietnam’s plants have achieved a “Zero Waste to Landfill” commitment, ensuring that all waste is collected and processed responsibly. Additionally, all milk cartons discarded from its factories are now recycled into useful products, including paper, roofing sheets, and pallets, supporting the company’s commitment to waste reduction and resource efficiency.
This award from EuroCham reinforces FrieslandCampina’s role in advancing sustainable practices in Southeast Asia and serves as motivation for the company to continue its journey towards a sustainable future. With its innovative approach to sustainability in the value chain, FrieslandCampina sets a benchmark for companies across the region, working collaboratively to make each step towards a greener, healthier Asia.
The EuroCham Sustainability Awards celebrate the remarkable achievements in sustainability by European, as well as Singaporean companies, located in Singapore. Through a series of sustainability sharing sessions, EuroCham has highlighted and celebrated the sustainability initiatives of companies across different industries. Now, together with our strategic knowledge partners, Accenture, the programme recognises and acknowledges the best of these sustainability practices with EuroCham Sustainability Awards in five categories: Sustainovation Energy Efficiency, Sustainovation Value Chain, Sustainovation Technology, Sustainovation Transportation, and Financing For Impact. |
