France and Germany want eurozone heads of state and government to hold a yearly meeting for greater economic cooperation, the French presidency said on Thursday.

"We think that the eurozone should... set regular meetings once a year, at which eurozone heads of state and government would meet to discuss deepening coordination," said a presidential aide who asked not to be named.

The aide said the two countries would propose the yearly meetings at Friday's European Union summit in Brussels.
