This Sunday, the first running race organised by Garmin and Topas in Hanoi will gather runners from 20 nations racing on the paths of 5-10 kilometres in the race will be organised in Gamuda’s peaceful Yen So Park.

Two of the outstanding male ultra-runners in Vietnam, Tran Duy Quang, who won Vietnam Mountain Marathon (VMM) 2017 100km and Vietnam Trail Marathon (VTM) 2019 70km, and Nguyen Tien Hung – winner of VMM 2018 100km will be racing together for the first time. They will race head to head in a fierce competition of 10k distance with Thanh Hoa’s Le Duc.

In the female 10km field, VMM 2017 100km champion Nathalie Cochet will take on the fast 10km distance alongside Chi Nguyen who has been on the podium of multiple road runs in recent years and Thanh Hoa’s Nguyen Ha.

Alongside the fast runners are a number of well-known participants including writer Trang Ha and Miss Vietnam 1994 Nguyen Thu Thuy – who will run for Newborns Vietnam.

“We love the idea to give something back through running at Garmin Run Hanoi and contribute to neonatal care in Vietnam through Newborns Vietnam,” said Trang Ha. “Our family will also contribute a small gift to Newborns Vietnam on the day. I believe this is the chance for juniors to learn positive things through sport.”

Like other races by Topas, Garmin Run Hanoi also supports charity work. The event hosts a junior 5km race for runners of 6 to 15 years old and all of the revenue will proceed to Newborns Vietnam which works to increase life chances for critically ill newborn babies in Vietnam. Newborns will have a team of neonatal medical staff running alongside 50 supporters.

Founder of Newborns, Suzanna Lubran said, “We are very pleased to continue our partnership with Topas to raise not only valuable funds, but also awareness of our work to save the lives of newborns here in Vietnam. Our projects at the Vietnam National Children’s Hospital, Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynaecology Hospital and St.Paul Hospital are going from strength to strength so it is wonderful for our team and supporters to join an event together in the capital.”
