Bayer HealthCare recently partnered with the Ho Chi Minh City Society of Reproductive Medicine to host the Asia Pacific Women’s Health Matters Symposium in Ho Chi Minh City.

Le Quang Thanh, MD, Member of Executive Board of Ho Chi Minh City Society of Reproductive Medicine, Director
of Tu Du Hospital gave the welcome speech and key updates on Vietnam contraception and gynecological therapies

The two-day regional scientific conference brought together a total of 270 obstetricians and gynecologists from across the region, including the Ho Chi Minh City Society of Reproductive Medicine (HOSREM), the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Tu Du hospital and leading hospitals of obstetrics and gynecology in south, north and central provinces in Vietnam.

“The overwhelming majority of healthcare providers in Asia Pacific are committed to offering a high standard of care to women in their local communities, and we are pleased to partner with Bayer to provide a forum for exchange of positive experiences and sharing of best practices from all over the world,” said Le Quang Thanh, member of HOSREM’s Executive Board and also director of Tu Du Hospital.

“Through our collaborative efforts, we hope to empower women’s healthcare providers in the region with the latest information to address women’s needs in contraception and gynecological treatments, thereby giving women the freedom to realise their full potential and strengthening their role in the society,”  Thanh added.

“Good family planning programme is one of the main components that contribute to improvement in socio-economic status and life quality in Vietnam. The country has shown efforts in controlling the population from excessive growth,” Thanh underlined. “However, there are recurrent potential problems for many women in emerging countries including Vietnam in terms of access to healthcare, availability, and maintenance of contraception. Therefore, providing good contraceptive consultation and prescribing the appropriate contraceptive methods is an important part of reproductive health medicine.”

SoYoung Shin, regional head of Medical Affairs for Women’s HealthCare, Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals said “For many women, the healthcare providers are one of the main sources of information and advice on contraceptive choices and management of gynecological conditions. We are delighted to collaborate with HOSREM to hold the symposium in Vietnam. This underlines our long-standing commitment to promote and maintain a high quality of women’s healthcare in the local communities where we operate.”

With 80 years of experience in hormone research, Germany-based Bayer is today the global leader in women’s health care.

The company is currently focusing on three important areas related to women’s health: contraception, menopause management and gynecological conditions.

In addition to current wide range of contraceptive options and gynecological therapies, Bayer is active in research and development in new treatment areas, including endometriosis and uterine fibroids to meet women’s diverse and evolving needs.
