In the next 12 hours, the typhoon will be moving west and north-west at a speed of some 20km per hour. By 4p.m on September 30, the typhoon will be centered at 17.3 degrees latitude north and 106.7 degrees longitude east of Ha Tinh and Quang Tri provinces with sustained winds of between 75 km and 102 km per hour.

In the next 12-24 hours, it will continue heading in the same direction with a speed of 20km per hour and become a low tropical pressure after sweeping inland.

The typhoon has caused strong winds and rough seas in the east of the Hoang Sa (Spratly) archipelago. There will be heavy rains and rising sea levels in the central coastal provinces from Nghe An to Da Nang city.

Local authorities in Quang Nam, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Da Nang have been urged to take drastic measures to cope with the typhoon.

On September 30, a government working mission led by Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai conducted an inspection tour of Thua Thien Hue province.

The Deputy PM asked the provincial and district authorities to evacuate local residents from the danger areas and ban fishermen from operating at night.

He emphasized that the tenth tropical storm is very strong and likely to dump heavy rains on mountainous areas. Therefore, relevant ministries, agencies and armed forces in Military Zone 4 should coordinate efforts to reinforce the dykes and reservoirs while getting ready to help local people in distress.
