During talks in Hanoi on January 14, Hung said both countries should maintain regular exchanges to promote mutual trust and understanding, thereby supporting bilateral cooperation in all areas.
He expressed his pleasure at the fruitful development of the Vietnam-RoK economic cooperation over the years, bringing practical benefit to the two peoples.
He proposed that the RoK legislature and the government expand official development assistance (ODA) provision for Vietnam, especially in the area of infrastructure construction.
The Vietnam National Assembly will increase monitoring and examination to ensure the Korean aid is used effectively, Hung assured his guest.
He noted that the two National Assemblies have worked closely at regional and international parliamentary forums, and believed with their concerted efforts, the strategic cooperation partnership between Vietnam and the RoK will further develop, for mutual benefit, and for peace, stability and development in the region and the rest of the world.
For his Part, Kang echoed Hung’s view, saying over the past two decades both countries’ business circles have established a close-knit and effective partnership.
He said Vietnam has great potential for stronger cooperation with the RoK thanks to its advantages of geographical position, natural resources and human resources.
The RoK is willing to share its experience in economic and industrial development with Vietnam, Kang said.
He said the RoK is looking forwards to signing a free trade agreement (FTA) with Vietnam, considering this a special important document to expand comprehensive cooperation in the future.
He voiced the RoK National Assembly’s support for stronger cooperation and increased exchanges with its Vietnamese counterpart to share experience in legislation and supervision.
He said the RoK legislature is making every effort to guarantee the interest of foreign females, including those from Vietnam, marrying Korean men.
Both host and guest showed their interest in increasing bilateral cooperation in science and technology, meeting the development requirements in each country.
In the evening, Hung gave a banquet in honour of Kang and his entourage.
Kang Chang Hee began a four-day visit to Vietnam on January 13 at the invitation of NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.
