Hanoi – Vietnam Airlines has officially been licensed to operate 12 flights repatriating Vietnamese citizens from the US this year, the national flag carrier said on June 10.
It noted that the licence granted by the US Transport Security Administration (TSA) on June 8 is the most important legal condition for those flights to take off.
Vietnam Airlines is currently the first and only airline in the country to be licensed by the TSA to fly to the US.
The carrier said it is making a plan on operating the 12 flights, with the first scheduled to depart for the US on June 22 and return two days later.
Wide-body aircraft like Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 will be used for those flights, the firm said, adding that strict anti-COVID-19 measures will be applied to ensure health safety.
