Enterprises training awareness on digital transformation

Under the MPI programme of supporting businesses in digital transformation for 2021-2025, one of the important goals is to raise awareness and knowledge about digital transformation for all businesses nationwide.

To accomplish this goal, MPI's Agency of Enterprise Development has coordinated with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to implement the project of promoting reform and improving linkage of small- and- medium- sized enterprises (SMEs).

A series of direct training sessions for the business community in 40 cities and provinces across the country, such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Danang, and Haiphong, have been taking place.

The training chain has paid attention to and participated with business leaders to discuss such key topics as leadership thinking in digital transformation, process redesign, digital transformation of business models, application of digital technology to expand markets, digital transformation in the agricultural value chains industry, and logistic.

Training sessions were held in person for two days in each locality. Businesses are provided with background and in-depth knowledge, and practised specifically with experienced lecturers of the programme.

The training series has contributed to creating a change in the awareness and actions of SMEs about digital transformation, helping businesses understand the benefits of applying digital transformation in their business models and manufacturing, as well as connecting organisations, associations, and state agencies with experts and local businesses.

This will also promote digital technologies in transforming business models, expanding new sales channels, and touching new customers, which is significant because businesses are currently struggling with output market and a lack of orders.

Bui Lan, a representative of a business in the agricultural sector in Gia Lai province said, “Think bigger, act really and quickly are sayings that I am very interested in through the past two-day training course, where I have learned a lot of knowledge such as building a lean business model or applying software to manage the business more effectively.”

Nguyen Hoang, a representative of a mechanical manufacturer in Quang Ngai province said, “The digital transformation is still very vague for SMEs in the province without a clear roadmap. My business has also applied ERP software, but is still struggling in the process and operation."

"After the course, I have a general picture of what I need and prepare for the next steps. I and all businesses look forward to continuing to receive the programme's support in the process of digital transformation," he said.

Earlier, the USAID projects built tools, and guidance documents, implemented awareness raising activities and digital transformation training for businesses.

The programme has achieved a number of positive results, such as more than 2 million visiting the initiative's instructional materials, training videos, and experience sharing; and more than 10,000 enterprises in 40 localities directly trained in digital transformation.

These have contributed to a clear growth in awareness and investment in digital transformation in businesses.

According to the 2022 Enterprise Digital Transformation Annual Report of the MPI, in 2022, the number of surveyed enterprises doing digital transformation is increasing, and most of them set aside budget for this.
