The Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) organised on October 3-4 a national conference on the promotion of production sectors and their quality standards and assessed the three year progress of a national programme to do so.

The national programme was approved by the government under a decision in 2010 and the MoST was commissioned to preside over it and directly facilitate two major projects involving technical regulations and promoting product quality. There are also numerous similar projects being conducted by ministries and local provinces.

Tran Viet Thanh, MoST's Deputy Minister said that after three years running the national programme, productivity and production quality had increased and both authorities and businesses were focusing more on these areas in accordance with the government’s industrialisation and modernisation plans.

MoST data showed that over 600 enterprises had gathered management, productivity and quality control tools for deployment in 2013-2014.
