Quang Nam stresses feasibility of new provincial planning

The remarks at a conference on March 16 in which Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang and Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung presented the prime ministerial decision approving Quang Nam’s provincial planning for the rest of the decade, with vision towards 2050.

Chairman Thanh noted that the planning was focused on expediting Resolution of the Quang Nam Party Congress for term 2020-2025, simultaneously updating and complementing new perspectives and development directions in accordance with the realities and contemporary development trends.

"The planning demonstrates the will and aspiration of Quang Nam to strive to grow into a well-developed locality of the country by 2030, powered by modern and synchronous infrastructure network," Thanh said.

The province aims to host regional-level airports, seaports, logistics services, tourism, automobile factories, mechanical engineering, and power industries. It will also form national-level centres for supporting industries, deep processing of agricultural and forestry products, medicinal materials, and silica; as well as put in place high-quality vocational training facilities.

Also, the majority of medical and educational facilities shall meet national standards, and Quang Nam shall feature a synchronous urban system closely linked with the countryside.

The goal by 2050 is striving to become a centrally run locality with a high human development index level, as well as high incomes, making a greater contribution to the central budget.

“These targets are of paramount importance and highly feasible, leveraging clear scientific arguments. It, however, mandates the solidarity, efforts, and strong determination of the entire political system, support from central government, good coordination of localities, the positivity of businesses, and the unanimous support of its people,” Thanh said.

“This shall all create new resources and bring opportunities for Quang Nam to take off, growing into one of the major economic centres and motivating force of the central region and the whole country,” added Thanh.

In Thanh's view, economic development must be associated with protecting the ecological environment, responding to climate change, using natural resources economically and effectively, and living in harmony with nature for sustainable development.

Along with the conference, Quang Nam also launched National Biodiversity Restoration Year 2024, deemed a message that Quang Nam shall persistently choose the path of green growth and responsible development with nature and the planet, for today and future generations, Thanh asserted.
