Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) ended down for the fourth straight session, while Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) was off for the seventh straight session Thursday.

HoSE’s VN-Index was off 0.47 points or 0.12 per cent to 387.95 points. HNX’s HNX-Index fell 0.36 points or 0.68 per cent to 52.66 points.

Both indexes kept fluctuating and slightly ending down via each session this week, sparking worries among investors about a strong drop soon.

Large-cap stocks contributed big part in the market fall, after keeping almost unchanged in past sessions.

Hau Giang Pharmaceutical (DHG) dropped 2.88 per cent, Masan Group (MSN) 1.06 per cent, Hoa Phat Group (HPG) 2.12 per cent, PetroVietnam Fertilisers (DPM) 0.56 per cent.

Financial stocks Eximbank (EIB) dipped 3.82 per cent, while Vietcombank (VCB), Bao Viet Holdings (BVH) ending down. But Military Bank (MBB) significantly gained, Sacombank (STB) advanced and Vietinbank (CTG) stayed unchanged. MBB outperformed the southern bourse with 4.2 million shares matched.

Among speculative stocks, mineral tickets Nari Hamico Minerals (KSS), Bac Giang Exploitable Mineral (BGM), Tay Bac Minerals Investment (KTB), Duong Hieu Trading and Mining (DHM) massively turned head to drop after yesterday’s rally.

Decliners outran advancers 102 to 87 on HoSE. Some 120 stocks were unchanged.

On HNX, banking stock also suddenly outperformed the bourse. Namely, Saigon-Hanoi Bank (SHB) was active the most with 5.8 million shares matched. The ticket lost 3.77 per cent.

Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) and other major stocks of the northern bourses largely shed or ended flat. Advancers outran decliners 84 to 80.

Significant put-through value helped HoSE’s liquidity jump to 46.1 million shares worth VND704.1 billion ($34 million) today. Meanwhile, HNX’s liquidity kept weak at 21.8 million shares worth VND134 billion ($6.5 million).

Matching value did not improve yet, totaling VND405.8 billion ($19.6 million).
