On May 13, the walk will be held in District 7 in Ho Chi Minh City. In total, this year the MILO walk is expected to attract 20,000 participants that are students and teachers as well as many celebrities. This is the second time Nestlé MILO held this event in Hanoi and the third in Ho Chi Minh City.
The walk is Nestlé MILO’s effort in increasing participation in sports among school students to improve their health. In the framework of the event the brand will give 60 sets of basketball pole and net, worth a total VND1 billion ($44,000) to 30 primary schools in Hanoi and 30 schools in Ho Chi Minh City.
This year’s event has the biggest scale ever. It shows Nestlé MILO’s commitment “to a more active Vietnam” by encouraging activeness and exercise in the community and especially among children between 6 and 17.
The event is part of Project 641, approved in 2011 by the prime minister, on improving the health and stature of Vietnamese in 2011-2030.
“We strongly believe that sport not only brings endurance and height but also teaches our children lessons of teamwork, persistence and confidence to win. This is why we are committed to promoting sports in schools and encouraging students to participate in sports,” said Ali Abbas, business executive manager at Nestlé Vietnam, adding that Nestlé MILO hopes that more and more organisations will join in to support the walk and other events, to facilitate students’ participation in sports for stronger and more active generations of Vietnamese.
“We appreciate the effort of Nestlé MILO in holding the MILO walk as well as other events as part of Project 641,” said Ngu Duy Anh, director of the Student Affair Department under the Ministry of Education and Training.
