The event, jointly organised with BSI Vietnam and Arup Vietnam, took place in Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of over 30 businesses in the cement, concrete, additives, and related industries.
Speakers advised attendees on how to identify greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions within organisational boundaries, the process of conducting GHG audits, and how to shape appropriate action strategies for emissions reduction.
Given Vietnam's commitment to carbon neutrality by 2030, and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, participating businesses recognise the importance of emission reduction management.
Nguyen Le Thi, head of Build Environment at BSI Vietnam said, "Evaluating green projects is based on factors such as energy usage, natural ventilation, water saving, and the use of recycled materials, along with quantifying carbon emissions, which is an opportunity for pioneers in the use of low-carbon concrete."
INSEE representatives also shared a wealth of practical experiences and sustainable development solutions that it has applied since its early days of operation in Vietnam. This is especially true in the context of identifying GHG emissions.
Nguyen Le Thi, head of Built Environment at BSI Vietnam, shared the roadmap and application of low-carbon concrete in the UK, while Pham Thanh Tu, marketing manager at INSEE Vietnam discussed INSEE Talks' vision for the future.
Eamon John Ginley, general director of INSEE Vietnam said, “We are striving to decarbonise our footprint across all our operations by utilising alternative fuels and raw materials, as well as minimising biodiversity impacts and ensuring sufficient water management at all of our sites.”
"With all the advances we have achieved in our sustainable development journey so far, we are now turning our attention to defining our future-fitting business model to ensure success and secure a stake in untapped value pools,” he added.
As a pioneering company in green production, INSEE Cement is currently implementing several effective solutions to meet a minimum 24 per cent reduction in GHG emissions per ton of cement produced. This reduction is achieved through maximum control of waste and emissions.
Pham Thanh Tu, marketing manager at INSEE Vietnam, said, "INSEE's goal is to guide businesses towards a green future in the cement and concrete industry. INSEE Talks is an open forum and a space for businesses to share, collaborate, and build a green future together.”
