The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) Vietnam said on July 31 that it will fund over 3.2 billion VND (153,000 USD) for six projects run by SOS Children’s Villages and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Vietnam.

The funding, which is part of the bank’s flagship educational programme ‘Future First’, aims to provide education and life skills for 8,300 orphans and street children as well as vocational training for underprivileged teenagers in the country.

Future First is one of the cornerstones of the HSBC’s sustainable development activities that enables Vietnamese unfortunate kids to become optimistic and helpful members in society, said HSBC Sustainable Development Committee President Scott Solberg.

Since its inception in 2007, the programme has raised over 1.3 million USD in funding for 34 projects, benefiting more than 80,400 Vietnamese children.
