Nguyen Thanh Phong, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has signed the new rule following the request of the city Department of Industry and Trade.
Accordingly, the committee has allowed some employees of supermarkets, convenience stores, and other stores to be out on the streets after 6pm to 6am the next day to execute work-related tasks.
The list of these stores will be added to the database on the web portal of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade. Directors of these stores will be able to issue work cards or work confirmations for their staff.
Before this decision, the city allowed people of five groups to be out on the streets between 6pm and 6am the following day.
First, personnel involved in emergency response; pandemic prevention and control forces; support forces requested by functional agencies and local authorities for disease prevention and control.
Second, officials, reporters, editors of news agencies and radio stations performing political tasks in the city, including newspaper distribution.
Third, urban environmental health workforce; people troubleshooting problems of electricity, water, IT and technical infrastructure.
Fourth, the means of transport for essential goods; means of transport for forces performing pandemic prevention and control tasks; means of transport for workers at enterprises that are implementing the "one road, two destinations" model; means of transport for materials in service of import and export.
Fifth, fuel retailers at the 12 main gateways of Ho Chi Minh City.
