Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Xuan Dung at the meeting on measures to ease the risk of COVID-19 transmission in Bac Ninh and Bac Giang |
Amid concerns over the outbreak in neighbouring provinces, deputy director of Hanoi Department of Health Hoang Duc Hanh said that implementing documents 07 and 08 of the City People's Committee, Hanoi Industrial and Export Processing Zones Management Authority has been actively monitoring the number of Hanoi residents working at industrial zones in these provinces. Specifically, there are 151 experts and workers in Hanoi working in Bac Giang as well as 6,153 experts and employees in Bac Ninh.
Hanoi Department of Heath has urged district and communal authorities to ask the people to strictly monitor their health conditions and limit contact with others, while strictly abiding by the pandemic prevention regulations.
Hanoi Industrial and Export Processing Zones Management Authority said that it has assessed the risk of the pandemic spreading from the two neighbouring provinces. Accordingly, the potential of transmission from Bac Ninh is low because businesses with infections such as Canon and Samsung are well zoned and traced. Meanwhile, the risk of COVID-19 transmission from Bac Giang remains high.
To prevent this risk, following directions from Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Chu Ngoc Anh, the management authority has built an online platform where businesses can declare and update the list of their employees and their specific information.
The authority has also asked businesses to develop scenarios for an internal outbreak of the pandemic, allowing them to fully comply with regulations on epidemic prevention and control, and has established nine teams to review, inspect, and evaluate their compliance with the regulations. If they are found in violation, they will have their operation stopped.
Hanoi has directed the need to prepare places for 30,000 mandatory quarantine cases. Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Xuan Dung especially requested districts and towns to quickly make preparations to house 1,000 patients in mandatory isolation.
On the morning of May 18, Vietnam detected 19 new locally-transmitted infections, including 13 in Hanoi, three in Ha Nam, two in Dien Bien, and one in Son La, thus increasing the country’s total number of infections to 4,378.
