Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai and other Vietnamese leaders attended the opening ceremony for the road, which is part of the capital city's Ring Road 2 and includes the three bridges of Dong Tru, Dong Hoi and Phuong Trach.

The road, which is 13.32 kilometers long and 68.5 meters wide, runs from the Bac Thang Long-Van Tri Urban Area to the intersection between National Highway 1 and National Highway 5.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the significance of the project, which would serve as a key transport artery facilitating the development of urban and industrial areas in the northern part of the Red River Delta.

The road is also expected to ease the traffic burden on roads to western and northwestern provinces and strengthen the capital city's economic linkages with other localities.

Implementation of the project, worth approximately VND6.6 trillion (US$314 million), began in 2005 and was carried out in accordance with the capital city's Master Plan for Development for 2020, which Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung approved.

Dong Tru Bridge, which is 1.14 kilometers long and 55 meters wide, spans the Duong River and links Long Bien District and the suburban Dong Anh District. Vietnamese engineers built the bridge, consisting of steel tubes filled with cement.
