
The wireless service, covering passenger lounges and areas near platforms, can serve up to 800 clients simultaneously.
The service is also planned for other busy railway stations, including those in Nha Trang, Dieu Tri and Da Nang.
In recent years, smartphones have become increasingly popular in Vietnam. Free internet connectivity at railway stations would allow passengers to use their devices while waiting for their trains.
According to a Meganet manager, offering free Wi-Fi access at railway stations is a pilot project for the company, which plans to expand the service to airports, bus stations and local government offices.
Earlier this year, free Wi-Fi access was launched in Hoi An and Ha Long. Several other tourist destinations throughout Vietnam also have plans to offer the service as a way to lure more visitors.
