Dai-ichi Life Vietnam on October 6 announced an VND1 billion ($48,780) sum to finance a social project in Vietnam.

The project, named “For A Better Life”, will provide 24 selected schools in Vietnam’s rural areas of 10 provinces with UV water filtration.

That clean water supply project is the biggest one Dai-ichi Life Vietnam has introduced this year, according to the life insurer’s CEO Takashi Fujii. The firm has spent VND6 billion ($292,700) on social projects in Vietnam since its start-up, he added.

Dai-ichi Life Vietnam, a unit of Japan’s Dai-ichi, started operations four years ago. The firm posted VND1.14 billion ($55.6 million) in chartered capital by December 31, 2010.
