Bao Viet Securities (BVS) hit the ceiling with nearly one million shares traded. VnDirect Securities (VND) sharply jumped 5.67 per cent and outperformed the market with up to more than three million units changing hands.
Kim Long Securities (KLS) gained 4.27 per cent with more than 1.8 million shares traded. Wall Street Securities (WSS), Au Viet Securities (AVS) and some other securities companies’ shares largely rose as well.
A mass of large-cap stocks significantly advanced, among them the coffee exporter Thai Hoa Vietnam Group JSC (TVH), PetroVietnam Construction JSC (PVX), PetroVietnam Northern Gas JSC (PVG) with from 1.3 million to over 2 million shares changing hands each.
Liquidity suddenly bounced back with more than 30.4 million shares worth VND392 billion ($18.9 million) traded.
At the close, the benchmark HNX-Index added 0.59 points or 0.71 per cent to 83.28 points. Up to 175 stocks advanced and 97 declined on the northern bourse, with 111 stocks unchanged.
On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), put-through volume did not keep high anymore dragging down liquidity.
Trading volume stood at 18.9 million shares, the lowest level since this year’s beginning, with value worth some VND400 billion ($19.32 million).
Given investors increasingly steeping aside, the market was driven again by a number of speculators.
Bao Viet Holding (BVH) hit the ceiling to VND88,500 thanks to only 12,500 bid orders at the session’s end. The pillar stock saw just 102,000 shares changing hands throughout this trading day.
Masan Group (MSN) was boosted to VND118,000, gained VND1,000VND, at the session end as well.
The benchmark VN-Index hence turned head to add 4.76 points (1.01 per cent) to 477.47 points.
Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) was active with 1.87 million shares traded. Some blue-chips like FPT Corp. (FPT), Vinamilk (VNM) and PetroVietnam Finance (PVF) gained as well but with just small trading volume.
The gainers strongly outran the decliners 150 to 71, among them 26 hitting the ceiling and 18 hitting the floor on the southern bourse.
