The Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee has allowed the Phuong Mai joint stock company to develop the project.
Covering an area of 141.9ha at the Nhon Hoi Economic Zone, the power plant will have 12 turbines with a combined capacity of 30MW.
The project is expected to join the national grid in the first quarter of 2013.
In another development, a signing ceremony for a thermal power plant in Thai Nguyen province took place in Hanoi.
According to the contract, the People’s Bank of China will provide An Khanh Electricity Joint Stock Company with $143 million to continue construction of An Khanh Thermal Power Plant 1 in An Khanh commune, Dai Tu district of the northern province of Thai Nguyen.
Stage one of the 100 MW power plant, started in January last year, with a total investment of $168 million.
The plant’s first turbine is scheduled to become operational by September, 2012, with the second to follow in the second quarter of 2012.
The plant will be connected to the national grid by the third quarter of 2013 and generate 800 million KWh per year.
