Argentine President visits HCMC

Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner visited Ho Chi Minh City on January 18, a part of her official trip to Viet Nam from January 18-21 at the invitation of State President Truong Tan Sang.

In a meeting with Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Chairman Le Hoang Quan on January 19, President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner affirmed that Argentina will be the city’s comprehensive partner.

Mr. Quan said Ho Chi Minh City expects a direct air route should be opened soon between Viet Nam and Argentina to help strengthen bilateral exchanges. The city also wants to be twinned with an Argentine city, added the Chairman. He took the occasion to propose Argentina open a consulate in Ho Chi Minh City.

Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner said her country is strong at healthcare, agriculture, biotechnology, oil and gas, nuclear technology for peaceful purposes and tourism. These are promising fields for bilateral cooperation between Argentina and Viet Nam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular, said the guest.
