The local team will bring Amazon much closer to local sellers

The move is meant to better support Vietnamese small- and medium-sized enterprises in their cross-border e-commerce and business expansion activities, thanks to Amazon’s international customers.

Amazon Global Selling aims to provide professional knowledge related to the sales of products on the Amazon website to enterprises. This will include creating lists of products and offering the Fulfillment by Amazon service.

Bernard Tay, Amazon’s regional director for Southeast Asia, said Vietnam is one of the handful of countries with huge advantages in manufacturing and processing. The launch of the Amazon Global Selling team in Vietnam continues to solidify its efforts in supporting the local business community, he added.

Moreover, the recently launched Amazon Singapore would serve as a bridge for Vietnamese sellers taking their products to Amazon’s customers worldwide, Tay asserted.

Hoang Minh Chien, vice director of the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), highly regarded Amazon’s efforts in taking Vietnamese enterprises global.

Chien expected the co-operation between local enterprises and Amazon would yield practical benefits for the former.

Previously, Amazon Global Selling and VietTrade jointly worked in a programme on supporting Vietnamese enterprises to sell products on amazon.com. So far, many Vietnamese products, including footwear, handicraft, and textile products have received positive responses from Amazon customers.

The programme will select100 potential Vietnamese SMEs whose products meet Amazon’s requirements to enjoy support from Amazon Global Selling, Vietrade, and export partners. It aims to help these promising businesses improve their capacity for export through the Amazon platform.

In addition, a number of training sessions will be carried out throughout the country to equip firms with basic knowledge to sell their products on the international market through Amazon.

Participants will receive special benefits, including training courses on direct or online selling, in-depth support and consultations, and discounts from local service suppliers during the sales process on Amazon.

At the same time, the 100 selected firms will have opportunities to engage in the second phase of the plan, focusing on developing the trademarks of Vietnamese firms and products on Amazon.

Many local items, especially textile and garments, footwear, and handicrafts, have received positive response after their appearance on Amazon.
