All Vietnamese workers already get out of dangerous areas in Libya

The last Vietnamese workers in the Libyan city of Tripoli, where fighting is intensifying, were evacuated to a safe place by Wednesday afternoon, waiting for flights to return to Vietnam, the Department of Overseas Labor Management (Dolab) reported the same day.

By 3:00 pm yesterday, 92 Vietnamese workers were moved from Tripoli through the border gate Ras Ajdir to Tunisia, where they will be sent back to Vietnam later, Dolab, under the Vietnamese Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs (MOLISA).

They are among the 281 workers who had worked in the strife-torn cities of Tripoli and Benghazi.

By mid-July 2014, Vietnam had had a total of 1,750 workers in Libya and 907 of them had returned to Vietnam safely by Wednesday evening, Dolab said.

By yesterday night, another 294 Vietnamese workers had left Libya to go to its neighboring countries, including Tunisia, Turkey and Egypt, waiting for flights to come back to Vietnam in days to come, the department said.

The remaining Vietnamese workers in Libya still keep in contact with the Vietnamese Embassy in the North African country and they will be evacuated soon, it added.

Minister of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs Pham Thi Hai Chuyen said the ministry will provide financial support and new jobs for the returnees to help them stabilize their life.
