5,000 ATMs of 22 banks connected

The six Smartlink members include Bao Viet Joint Stock Commercial Bank (BaoVietBank), Sai Gon Hanoi Joint Stock Commercial Bank (SHB), Viet A Joint Stock Commercial Bank (VietABank), House Development Joint Stock Commercial Bank (HDBank), Southern Joint Stock Commercial Bank (Southern Bank), and VID Public Bank.
The Dong A Joint Stock Commercial Bank (DongA Bank) and the Dai A Joint Stock Commercial Bank (DaiABank) are the two VNBC member banks.
After four main connections were established, a network of 5,000 automatic teller machines (ATMs) owned by 20 Smartlink member banks and the two VNBC member banks has been linked up.
Holders of cards issued by any of these banks can use them to make payments at any ATM owned by the member banks.
This will boost development of non-cash payment tools in Vietnam.
There are currently around 27 million bank cards, 11,000 ATMs and 42,000 point of sale (POS) terminals in Vietnam.
