These combined investments are estimated to generate up to 1,000 employment statewide over the following five years.

VinFast's headquarters is placed in the Playa Vista neighbourhood of Los Angeles, housing a management team. Over the next several years, the company aims to add more than 400 people to its team there and at its regional office in Los Angeles.

Van Anh Nguyen, CEO of the company’s US operations, said California, particularly Southern California, are rapidly becoming the epicentre of advanced transportation, thanks to “forward-thinking ideas, an abundance of talented workers, and the passion for making transportation electrification a reality.”

“We are excited to make Los Angeles the permanent home of VinFast US,” she noted.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said VinFast is welcome, noting that LA is “a place where companies come to test, prove and launch new technologies.”

“We are so proud to welcome VinFast to our city as we continue leading the way to a better-connected, cleaner, and more sustainable transportation future,” Garcetti said in a statement.

Besides setting up its headquarters, VinFast is also investing in regional offices, a call centre, and a network of shops to promote the brand and products to US customers and increase investment plans in the future.

VinFast is also one of the few international companies to benefit from the California Competes (CalCompetes) Tax Credit programme by the Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development.

The $20.5 million tax credit issued to VinFast is the largest CalCompetes tax credit ever given to an automaker and one of the 10 largest awards made to any company in the programme's almost 10-year history.

VinFast has revealed that the VF e35 and VF e36 electric SUV models will make their global debut at the 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show, which runs from November 17 to 28. The VinFast electric car brand will be officially introduced to the North American market at this global premiere, with pre-orders beginning in the first half of 2022.
