SCG Concrete Roof Vietnam awarded three latest management certifications

These certifications are the latest international standards including ISO 9001 for Quality Management, ISO 14001 for Environmental Management, and OHSAS 18001 for Occupational Health and Safety.

SCG has become the first concrete roof tile manufacturer in Vietnam to be granted three major certifications for management systems

According to Jaturong Kurowat, general director of SCG Concrete Roof Vietnam, domestic customers need good quality building materials and roof tile products to improve living standards.

“SCG is proud to answer to the market’s demand with our exceptional efforts to not only improve product and service quality, but also promote the wellness of living environment and improve community living standards. These three certificates are the evidence of our commitment to quality, safety, the environment, and continuous improvement over time,” Kurowat said.

ISO 9001 is an international standard on Quality Management Systems to help improve organisation’s performance through a customer-focused approach, leadership, and process approach.

Meanwhile, ISO 14001 sets a global standard on Environmental Management Systems that requires organisations to commit to protecting the environment, preventing pollution, minimising waste, and maintaining continuous improvement as part of the management cycle.

Finally, OHAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) certifies an organisation’s capacity to control risks and improve occupational health and safety performance.

All three certifications are granted by Guardian Independent Certification Ltd. (GIC), a UK-based accredited conformity assessment body. GIC is also accredited by United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) and Joint Accreditation System of Australia & New Zealand (JAS-ANZ).

Established in Vietnam in 2006 with a factory premise in Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park in the southern province of Binh Duong province, currently SCG Concrete Roof Vietnam has 160 employees with a capacity of more than 17 million pieces of roof tile and fitting products for the Vietnamese market.

SCG is a leading conglomerate in the ASEAN, comprising of three core businesses: SCG Cement-Building Materials, SCG Chemicals, and SCG Packaging. The group now has more than 200 companies under its umbrella and approximately 57,000 employees.

SCG began business operations in Vietnam in 1992 with trading and gradually expanded investment into diversified businesses in the cement-building materials, chemicals, and packaging industries. So far, the group has 21 companies operating across Vietnam, driven by 8,300 employees.
