The country also hopes its cooperative activities with the WB will be more effective.

PM Nguyen Tan Dung made the statement at his reception for WB Country Director for Viet Nam Victoria Kwakwa on January 23.

Applauding the WB’s cooperation and assistance for Viet Nam in the recent times, PM Dung revealed that Viet Nam is launching its socio-economic development plan in 2014 and facing a number of challenges.

This year, Viet Nam indentifies to strengthen macro-economic stability, control inflation, tackle difficulties, create favorable conditions for production, and accelerate economic restructuring to achieve a higher growth rate than in 2013 and guarantee social security and welfare, he added.

The nation will realize long and mid-term missions synchronously, establish a State ruled by law, bring into full play the democratic rights of people and complete the socialist oriented market economy, stressed PM Dung.

The WB Country Director spoke of the achievements made by Viet Nam in 2013.

She said she was impressed with the PM’s New Year Message and valued the issues raised in the message.

Besides its set missions, the nation should maintain a reasonable growth rate, reduce poverty rapidly and sustainably and create more jobs, she suggested.

The WB will always stand side by side and support Viet Nam to fulfill its development goals, she asserted.

PM Dung and Ms. Victoria Kwakwa exchanged measures to strengthen cooperation between Viet Nam’s ministries and agencies and the WB to implement agreements reached between Viet Nam and its partners at the Viet Nam DevelopmentPartnership Forum.
