The agreement was signed by the Director of the Federal Administration of Public Revenue (AFIP) Ricardo Echeragay and the visiting Deputy Minister of Finance Nguyen Cong Nghiep. The latter led a Vietnamese delegation on a working visit to the Latin American country from November 26 to 29.
The document is seen as an important basis to ensure security for the development of bilateral trade. It also lays a foundation for the two countries to accelerate co-operation and share experience in customs management and professional skills, as well as lessons drawn from customs law enforcement.
Nghiep and Echeragay said that the two sides will join further negotiations to finalise an agreement on double taxation avoidance, paving the way for better economic, trade and investment ties.
Earlier, the Vietnamese delegation held talks with various Argentinean senior financial officials and experts on improving cooperation, especially on dealing with impact of the global economic crisis.
Two-way trade between Vietnam and Argentina has grown steadily since 2005. In the first nine months of this year, the figure rose more than 13 per cent over the same period last year, reaching US$760 million, according to statistics from Vietnam.
The Vietnamese delegation is scheduled to visit Brazil next.
