Dung Quat Jet A1 fuel port |
Vietnam Airlines officially began using domestically produced jet fuel from June 29, said Nguyen Hoai Giang, General Director of Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Co. Ltd (BSR), the refinery’s operator.
According to Giang, the Dung Quat plant has sold 20,000 tonnes of jet fuel to domestic and foreign partners since last August.
This year, the plant is expected to produce 400,000 tonnes of jet fuel which is enough to meet half of domestic demand, he noted.
With an estimated 300 flights per day and a 115-aircraft feet by 2015, Vietnam Airlines’ jet fuel demand is forecast to dramatically rise in the time to come.
Dung Quat’s Jet A1 fuel received ISO 17025 certification from the Ministry of Science and Technology last November.
Norway’s DNV International Registration Agent also granted ISO 9001:2008 certification to eight Dung Quat petroleum products in March this year, including liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), propylene, 90, 92 and 95 octane gasoline, Jet A1 fuel, kerosene and diesel.
Since it became operational in February 2009, Dung Quat refinery has turned out 10.3 million tonnes of refined fuels, according to BSR.
