German-backed Siemens Vietnam has decided to prolong its video contest about sustainability for Vietnamese students to August 31, 2011.

>> A video snapshot of sustainability

On June 6 2011, Siemens Vietnam launched a video clip contest titled “Sustainability – All we need is U” for Vietnamese students with an aim to increase awareness about sustainability and to appeal the sense of responsibility and responsive actions among the youths.

This contest will be open for submissions until August 31, 2011. Registration details and further information about the contest can be found at http://www.thanhphobenvung.com.vn

The “Sustainability – All we need is U” video contest is open to Vietnamese students of all universities and colleges across Vietnam and overseas who are creative and dynamic, as well as are fans of the Seventh Art.

The jury will evaluate all entries and select five best ones for the final round where short-listed film-makers are required to make a presentation each about his/her video clip. Winners will be awarded with very attractive and valuable prizes. There are also many prizes for participants throughout the contest such as “The best video clip of the month” selected by the jury and “The video clip of choice” voted by the website’s members together with prizes for winners of the online games.

The winner of the first monthly award was the Stormie Brand group represented by Tran Quang Tung from Hanoi Arena University.

Through a moving story about a floral family whose life was in danger because of human’s lack of environmental awareness and bad behavior but was then saved by a little citizen, Tung and his friend have successfully reflected the on-going environmental issues and inspired our hope and trust in the young generation.

“We’re very pleased to receive a strong response from Vietnamese students for this contest on sustainability. It is clear evidence that Vietnamese young generation are much more knowledgeable and keen to learn about the current affairs.  All entries are of high quality and show a high level of investment from contestants.  It’s very difficult for the jury to decide which one is best,” said Erdal Elver, chief executive of Siemens Vietnam and chief of the jury panel.

This is the second time Siemens Vietnam undertakes to organise a contest for Vietnamese students. The 2010 photo contest “Ho Chi Minh City 21 – A Green and Sustainable City” has attracted a lot of attention and been well received by students from more than 20 universities in Ho Chi Minh City.

Through these contests, the world leading company in green technology hopes to increase awareness about sustainability among Vietnamese students, and in the mean time, offers them a healthy playground to express their thoughts and ideas for a sustainable future, which is eventually dependent on them.
