Standard Chartered Bank (Vietnam) has contributed to the World Environment Day (WED) by organising activities to raise environmental awareness, and to encourage actions to protect the environment every year.
This year, more than 100 bank staff volunteers and 100 GGC volunteers walked through Hanoi from the bank’s headquarters on Hai Ba Trung Street and the Le Dai Hanh branch to Thong Nhat Park. At the park, volunteers worked together in a series of meaningful activities related to environmental preservation, including cleaning the park, planting and painting the trees with protection lime.
As part of the bank’s commitment to build a long-term and sustainable business in Vietnam, Standard Chartered expects these activities will increase the awareness among Vietnamese people of the need to protect the environment.
Louis Taylor, vice chairman and general director of Standard Chartered Bank (Vietnam) Limited said: “World Environment Day is a great opportunity to stimulate awareness of the environment, and to encourage attention and action to protect the environment. At Standard Chartered Bank, we believe that taking positive actions to help the environment brings people together to ensure cleaner, healthier and brighter prospects for ourselves and for future generations. Co-operation with the Go Green Club in “A Green Living Day” event reinforces our promise of being “Here for good”, taking actions towards a more sustainable environment for Vietnam.”
Last year, on World Environment Day,bank staff volunteers cycled and walked around Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City carrying banners and flags depicting World Environment Day and the message of safeguarding the environment. Standard Chartered Bank’s staff also distributed recyclable bags printed with tips for a cleaner and safer environment to the citizens in these two cities.
