Unlike the LEED certification for new construction or major renovations, or the LEED certification for complete interior fit-out projects, which primarily focus on the construction and/or major renovation phases of a building, the LEED certification for existing buildings is an international standard that evaluates and recognises buildings that excel in improving performance and maintaining sustainable practices throughout the building's operation and maintenance. This includes water efficiency, energy efficiency, waste management, material quality, transportation, and indoor air quality and environment.
Since its establishment in 2015, SC VivoCity shopping mall has continuously improved, especially in energy conservation. In 2021, SC VivoCity successfully installed a renewable energy system, saving up to 6.8 per cent of the mall's total electricity consumption.

"SC VivoCity Shopping Mall places sustainable development as a core value of our long-term development strategy," shared Andre Lim, general director of Vietsin Commercial Complex Development JSC (VCCD).
"Receiving the LEED Gold certification is the result of our continuous efforts in optimising the operation and maintenance of the building, maintaining the efficiency of natural resources and marks a major milestone on our journey of pursuing the sustainable development values that VCCD and SC VivoCity aim for," added Lim.
