Russian leaders congratulate VN on national reunification

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of southern liberation and national reunification (April 30, 1975-2015), Russian leaders have sent congratulations to Vietnamese counterparts.

In a letter sent to President Truong Tan Sang, President Vladimir Putin wrote that Russian people always remember and admire the victory by Vietnamese people who dedicated their lives to fight for freedom and independence.

He also expressed Russia’s pride for its solidarity with Vietnamese fellows during the difficult war time and hoped that the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Viet Nam would flourish, contributing to consolidating peace and security in the Asia Pacific.

The same day, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev also sent a congratulatory message to his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Tan Dung.

Medvedev wrote that the remarkable event is a symbol of courage and perseverance by Vietnamese people in their struggle for independence.

Especially, during the challenging war time and the economic recovery, Viet Nam and Russia have established friendship and cooperation, laying a firm foundation for the comprehensive strategic partnership nowadays, the Russian leader wrote.

He expressed his belief that major joint projects in economics, industry, energy, humanities and other areas, which he and his Vietnamese counterpart discussed during their recent meetings in Hanoi, will contribute to bolstering bilateral ties.
