Retail banking in focus

The nation-level regional banking sector forum Asean Banker Forum will be held on December 7-8, at Ho Chi Minh City.

The forum, organised by International Data Group in conjunction with the State Bank, Vietnam Bank Association and Deposit Insurance of Vietnam is themed “Retail banking: Identifying key successful factors and the role of technology in building banks’ competitive advantages”.

Rooted from Banking Vietnam – the largest conference of information technology (IT) application and development in banking sector in Vietnam over seven years with 13 consecutive times, Asean Banker Forum is organised for leaders in banking and finance sectors, and IT suppliers to share ideas, exchange information and experiences, interact as well as keep abreast with the latest developments.

Given such development trend of banking sector, Asean Banker Forum 2011 will concentrate on developing retail banking with opportunities and challenges, key successful and decisive factors for retail banking infrastructure and service, as well as IT solutions for banking competitive advantage enhancement.

According to of State bank, the number of payment cards is more than twice that of 2008 with 14.7 million cards up to 33 million in the year of 2011, more than 12,000 ATM and 50,000 POS, 20 banks deploy internet banking and eight banks have mobile banking service with different levels.
 
According to Karolyn Seet, an analysis expert at Moody’s, Vietnam’s financial retail market had great potential.

The two-day conference will include three scientific sessions and one special discussion with the theme: “Retail payments and channel management for retail banking services”.

In parallel with the conference, Asean Banker Forum will spend exhibition space for 20 regional banks and other IT suppliers to introduce their most advance products, service and solutions.
