Party Congress discusses important documents

The event was chaired by 11th-tenure Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.

The 12th National Party Congress documents included the Political Report of the 12th Party Congress; the Report of the implementation of five-year socio-economic development plan (2011-2015), and orientations and tasks for socio-economic development (2016-2020).

The Party Congress listened to speeches of President of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) Nguyen Thien Nhan; General Ngo Xuan Lich – Secretary of the Party Central Committee and member of the Central Military Commission’s standing committee; Politburo member and Minister of Public Security General Tran Dai Quang; Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Popularisation and Education Mai Van Ninh, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations Hoang Binh Quan, and Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang.

VFF President Nguyen Thien Nhan delivered a speech on promoting the strength of the nation to help successfully realise socio-economic development targets and participate in building a pure, strong Party and administration. The speech highlighted the need to promote the strength of the national great unityand building a pure and strong Party and administration.

On behalf of the Viet Nam People’s Army (VPA)’s Party Organisation, General Ngo Xuan Lich said that the VPA will continue intensifying its core role in national defence and protecting the homeland.

Minister of Public Security General Tran Dai Quang highlighted positive changes in preventing and combating crimes and social evils, and improvements in Party-building and staff capacity, in terms of political ideology and professional skills.

For his part, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Popularisation and Education Mai Van Ninh proposed strengthening theoretical research and summarising the situation.

Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations Hoang Binh Quan raised opinions on the external affairs of the Party and the people’s diplomacy, Party’s leadership over external activities.

Minister Dinh La Thang presented a speech on “synchronous transport infrastructure, achieving socio-economic growth, and ensuring defence and security”
