Party Central Committee convenes 13th Plenum for key issues

The 13th Plenum of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee was officially opened on October 7 in Hanoi to talk about important issues relating to the country’s socio-economic development and the 11th Party Congress personnel.

The Central Committee will focus on the implementation of socio-economic goals and spending of the State budget in 2010.

The socio-economic development plan and State budget in 2011 and orientations in the period of 2011-2015 also top the agenda. 

Especially, personnel for the 11th Central Committee will be included. 

In his opening speech, Party chief Nong Duc Manh hailed the robust economic growth and recovery in production and business in spite of huge changes from inside and outside.

These successes have stemmed from sound leadership of the Party and high determination of the whole political system and people, stated General Secretary Manh. 

The Party chief suggested the Central Committee analyze specific achievements and weaknesses for better solutions in the coming time.

General Secretary Manh also underlined the necessity to combine long-term goals in building socio-economic development and State budget plans in the period of 2011-2015 in order to forge a solid foundation for Vietnam to become an industrialized country by 2020. 

The General Secretary hoped that the 11th Central Committee will be the contingence of eminent Party members who have firm political stuff, strategic vision, innovative way of thinking, good morals, as well as leadership capacity.
