Toyota announced they would suspend production for five days and slow production over the "next few weeks," because of shortfall in parts availability.
"We are slowing down to conserve parts yet maintain production as much as possible," said Steve St. Angelo of Toyota North America. "Future production plans will be determined at a later date."
Honda meanwhile said it would extend a production slowdown for a week.
"Honda is making every effort to return to full production as soon as possible,' the firm said in a statement."
"At the same time, we remain focused on minimizing the impact to associates and their families. Honda plans no layoffs at any of its North American facilities."
