IMF official supports VN’s reforms

During his meeting with Deputy Managing Director Mitsuhiro Furusawa in Ha Noi on Friday, the Government chief said Viet Nam is developing its economy in a fast and sustainable manner on par with ensuring macroeconomic stability, social progress and equality.

To achieve the above target, the Vietnamese Government is doubling its efforts in accelerating market institution improvement and international integration while restructuring the economy and sharpening competitive edge.

Besides, the Government also focuses on mobilizing all resources for infrastructure development, workforce training, and improvement of administration capacity and business environment.

Mr. Furusawa congratulated Viet Nam on its achievements in macroeconomic stability, growth, international integration, and realization of many of the millennium development goals ahead of schedule thanks to the great endeavors by the Government.

Regarding Viet Nam’s development strategies, Mr. Furusawa said the country has set a clear and right vision for fast and sustainable development in the future and suggested that Viet Nam should take full advantage of the current opportunities to conduct reforms, especially fiscal and credit policies, and State-owned enterprises.

He also affirmed that IMF always stands ready to provide support for Viet Nam, especially in policy consultation, technical assistance and capacity building.

Viet Nam is the first country Mr. Furusawa visits since he was appointed by as IMF Deputy Managing Director.
