The biggest-ever flood in Central Vietnam has overrun most of Danang’s streets, submerging a large number of vehicles parking at the Hoang Anh Gia Lai Lake View apartment block's basement.

HAGL Group’s Hoang Anh Gia Lai Lake View high-end resident block located on Ham Nghi Street (Thanh Khe district) is a highlight case of the material damage caused by the natural disaster. Accordingly, as of the evening of December 10, Danang authorities mobilised a sizeable rescue force to pump water from the basement.

The big rain has caused heavy damage to a large number of buildings, including whole residential areas at low-lying areas. Many residential blocks, including Hoang Anh Gia Lai Lake View, have reported hundreds of motorbikes and dozens of high-end cars being damaged by prolonged submerging in floodwater.

Captain Dang Hoang Hai, leader of the Thanh Khe district Police’s Fire Fighting and Rescue Authorities said that the basement was flooded with more than 6,000 cubic metres of water. Despite constantly pumping water out of the basement, the water level kept rising huge. Therefore, Huynh Duc Tho, chairman of the Danang People’s Committee directed Danang Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Company to provide special-use high-capacity pumps for the efforts.

To pump all the floodwater out of the basement of the Hoang Anh Gia Lai Lake View apartment block, Danang used two pumping trucks, one pump, and a large number of personnel. As of 5-6 AM of December 11, rescue forces started removing vehicles from the basement.
