Phung Tuan Duc, GoViet co-founder and former COO, has been appointed as general manager of Gojek Vietnam

This marks a significant milestone in the company’s long-term strategy and builds on the success of the GoViet platform. In addition, Phung Tuan Duc, GoViet co-founder and former chief operating officer, has been appointed as general manager of Gojek Vietnam, to lead the company’s next phase of growth.

Gojek is Southeast Asia’s leading technology group and a pioneer of the integrated super app model connecting users to over two million registered driver-partners and 500,000 merchants in over 200 cities across five Southeast Asian countries.

The Gojek app, which is underpinned by a new international technology platform, will enable the company to fulfil Vietnamese users’ changing needs and priorities by innovating and introducing new features and products more quickly and seamlessly. The app will deliver improved user experience, with a cleaner, simpler user interface and multiple feature upgrades. Vietnamese users will also be able to access Gojek services in Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand.

Since its launch in Vietnam in August 2018, GoViet has seen exponential growth, establishing a thriving ecosystem of users and creating significant positive social impact for drivers and merchants. With services for motorbike ride-hailing (GoBike), logistics (GoSend), and food delivery (GoFood), GoViet currently serves millions of consumers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and has created income-earning opportunities for more than 150,000 driver-partners and 80,000 merchants, the majority of which are micro-, small-, and medium-sized businesses. In its first year of operation, the company reached 100 million bookings, and then doubled this to 200 million six months later. Users consistently provide a high satisfaction rate (98 per cent).

Under the leadership of newly-appointed General Manager Phung Tuan Duc, the company will continue to be guided by the same hyperlocal approach and deep understanding of customer needs that fuelled its current success.

Phung Tuan Duc, general manager of Gojek Vietnam, said that, “Since the creation of GoViet, we’ve worked closely with the teams at Gojek to build a thriving ecosystem of users and partners that truly helps to improve life for people in Vietnam. We will continue to strive to remove life’s daily frictions for our consumers while working with drivers and merchants to provide additional income opportunities that help boost the Vietnamese economy. Becoming Gojek in Vietnam will mean a better experience for all of our users today and for years to come and I’m incredibly proud and excited to lead the team on this journey.”

Andrew Lee, group head of International, Gojek, said, “As our first launch outside of Indonesia, GoViet paved the way for Gojek’s regional expansion, and we’re deeply committed to continuing this sort of success. By uniting our apps and brand, we’ll be able to deliver an even better experience for users, taking what we’ve already accomplished to even greater heights."
