The storm developed from a tropical depression that hit the East Sea last night.
At 7 am today, the eye of the storm was 470 km east of Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago.
The maximum sustained wind near the eye of the storm reaches 62-74 km per hour.
The storm is expected to gain strength in the next 24 hours, alternating between west and west-southwest directions at speeds of 20-25 km per hour.
By 7 am tomorrow, the eye of the storm is forecast to have maximum sustained winds up to 75-88 km per hour.
The storm will cause rough seas in the south part of the East Sea including the Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago.
Sea areas from central Binh Thuan Province to southern Ca Mau Province will also suffer strong winds - up to 74-83 km per hour - and rough currents.
