Currently in its 20th year, the three-day exhibition is the largest event for the food ingredients and additives sector in Southeast Asia. This year, it is expected to attract 14,000 visitors to meet with 650 exhibitors, five of whom are from Vietnam.
Similar to previous years, Fi Asia 2015 is organised by UBM Asia (Thailand), the ASEAN branch of the Netherlands-based exhibition company.
According to UBM Asia (Thailand) business director Rungphech Chitanuwat, Fi Asia 2015 will be a great opportunity for ASEAN food firms to network and find potential partners.
“The exhibition emphasises the use of high-quality ingredients and additives in food production. This is particularly important since Southeast Asian consumers have become increasingly health-conscious and now demand safer food ingredients,” Chitanuwat said.
Meanwhile, commercial consul of the Royal Thai Consulate – General in Ho Chi Minh City Malinee Harnboonsong told VIR that Fi Asia 2015 would help to boost food trade throughout the ASEAN, especially in the context of the upcoming ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
“Food production has always been a prominent industry in Southeast Asia, as well as a key component of Thai – Vietnamese bilateral trade. With the establishment of the AEC, the potential for growth and collaboration will become even greater. Following Fi Asia 2015, I hope to see strengthened ties between our two countries in food trade,” she said.
