Dispute between IDJ company and Charmvit ends

The dispute over using lobby near elevator between IDJ Vietnam Investment JSC (IDJ) and Charmvit ended in peace thanks to the involvement of the authorities.

The began with IDJ's request to reduce the rent charge, which Charmvit refused. To put pressure on the landlord, IDJ began delaying paying service fee, a situation which then continued for years until Charmvit decided to cut the power if IDJ does not pay the service fee they were due.

In protest, IDJ's employees gathered at the first-floor lobby, causing a scene, which resulted in a conflict between an IDJ employee and a security guard who eventually used his baton to disallow entrance to the employee who wanted to personally talk to Charmvit's board of directors. The lobby was blocked for two days by IDJ's protesting employees.

According to newswire Laodong.vn, on March 15, representatives of IDJ and Charmvit met the Trung Hoa People’s Committee to discuss their disagreement. The representative of Charmvit said that IDJ delayed paying services fees, forcing Charmvit to cut the power.

"The conflict has been going for years, starting from IDJ's desire to reduce rental prices, which then escalated in the physical conflict on the first-floor of Charmvit Tower," said Phan Thi Hai Yen, the representative of the Trung Hoa People’s Committee.

According to Yen, the People's Committee resolved the case and IDJ agreed to pay the services fee for Charmvit. Meanwhile, IDJ requested a public apology from Charmvit for the incident when Charmvit’s security employee attacked IDJ staff. Charmvit agreed to make the apology.

Yen also emphasised that IDJ employees’ gathering in the lobby of the first floor of Charmvit Tower and blocking it from normal use from March 13 to 15 was illegal.
