The center will also support the growing targets of Damco Vietnam, one of the subsidiaries of the A.P.Moller-Maersk Group from Denmark, in both local and foreign markets.

The $4 million distribution center was constructed in eight months, covering 26,000 square meters in Di An District of Binh Duong province. Situated in Binh Duong, some 30 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City, the center will help customers reduce the transport cost to Cai Mep port.

Moreover, the center will also be multi functional by serving as a container freight station (CFS), warehouse and general container service center.  The logistic centre will hence provide a total capacity of up to one million cubic meters a year in terms of CFS cargo.

The facility is accessible by road and can serve both Cat Lai and Cai Mep ports. The company plans to further link the facility to barge infrastructure as a supplement to truck transport in order to allow customers to reduce overall transportation costs and carbon emissions.

The warehouse was built in accordance with Damco's global quality standards, said Brent Williams, contract logistics general manager for Damco in Vietnam and Cambodia.

Damco plans to continue investing in infrastructure to meet the growing needs of its customers. Along with the new logistic center, Damco has increased the number of its warehouse facilities in the country to nine.

Damco is involved in a wide range of other activities within logistics like port operations, energy, shipbuilding, retail and manufacturing.
