Agricultural products have been delivered to citizens in the form of combo packages |
Accordingly, the proposal is made in order to reduce the congestion of agricultural products for farmers, as well as help Ho Chi Minh City's people during the social distancing.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, there are currently more than 1,250 focal points providing agricultural products and food registered with Working Group 970. Products provided are diverse, ranging from seafood, vegetables, and fruits to eggs, meat, and processed agricultural products.
There will be three main types of combo packages with 10kg of agricultural products each, worth VND100,000 ($4.38), VND150,000 ($6.58), and VND200,000 ($8.77).
The combo programme aims to supply Ho Chi Minh City with up to 100,000 bags of food per day, equivalent to up to 1,000 tonnes each.
If there is support for transportation, with over 1,250 focal points in the provinces and a system of warehouses and distributors in Ho Chi Minh City, it is possible to increase the supply volume to up to 130,000 bags a day.
As reported, with a population of about 10 million people, the demand for rice in Ho Chi Minh City amounts to nearly 2,000 tonnes a day; and 4,200 tonnes of vegetables are needed per day. At the same time, 1,032 tonnes of meat of all kinds; and up to two million eggs are consumed every day in the area.
The combo programme has received positive response from the provinces in the Mekong Delta.
