Assembly Chairman meets with Thailand Senate leader

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said yesterday that he hoped Viet Nam and Thailand would soon upgrade their bilateral relations to strategic status.

Hung was talking after a meeting in the capital with the Deputy Chairman of the Thai Senate, Surachai Liengboolertchai.

Surachai, who was heading a Thai delegation, said he believed that both legislations could further their cooperation potential.

In a meeting with NA Deputy Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, both sides re-affirmed their commitments to building up the ASEAN Community by 2015.

They also agreed to increase exchanges of high-level officials and members of the legislative bodies because they would oversee the implementation of agreements between the two governments.
