Alstom has signed long-term parts and service agreements for Nhon Trach 1 power plant in Vietnam.
The two parties sign off on the important deal

On December 3, Alstom signed the long-term parts and service agreements with PetroVietnam Power Service JSC to supply parts and services for PetroVietnam’s 460 megawatt Nhon Trach 1 combined cycle power plant for 14 years.

Alstom supplied the original power island equipment for Nhon Trach 1, namely two GT13E2 gas turbines, two heat  recovery  steam  generators,  one  COMAX steam  turbine  and  three  air-cooled  TOPAIR turbogenerators, along with associated supervision and commissioning.

Nhon Trach 1 began operating in simple cycle in May, 2008. To date, the plant runs with availability significantly above the original designed parameters.

The excellent relationship established between Alstom and PetroVietnam during the construction of Nhon Trach 1 now continues with this long-term service partnership.

Nhon Trach 1 combined cycle power plant is recognised as a key contributor of reliable power supply to Vietnam’s electricity grid, which supplies electricity to the population and to  local industry.

The reliability factor is especially critical during Vietnam’s dry season as hydropower plants run low on water resources. Nearly 40 per cent of Vietnam’s power is generated by hydropower plants.

Through the two agreements signed, PetroVietnam will benefit from the reliability,  efficiency, lower running costs and lower CO2 emissions ensured by Alstom’s combined  cycle technology, as well as the experience of Alstom’s world-wide installed base.

Alstom is a global leader in the world of power generation, power transmission and rail  infrastructure and sets  the benchmark for innovative and environmentally friendly  technologies.

Alstom has built the fastest train and the highest capacity automated metro in the world, provides turnkey integrated power plant solutions and associated services for a wide variety of energy sources, including hydro, nuclear, gas, coal and wind, and it offers a wide range of solutions for power transmission, with a focus on smart grids. The group employs 96,500 people in more than 70 countries, and had sales of over €23 billion (pro forma figures) during 2009/10.
