AkzoNobel awarded a total of 40 scholarships for students in architecture and construction universities this year

This is the 10th consecutive year the leading global paints and coatings company has awarded scholarships to talented students with an aim to build capacity for Vietnam’s construction field.

Since 2009, the scholarship programme has helped promote and inspired hundreds of excellent students to pursue their majors.

Through that, the company could contribute to develop future generations and nurture their sustainable mindset. This year, a total of 40 scholarships were awarded to students in architecture and construction universities, including 20 packages for excellent students and 20 packages for excellent graduation projects and students.

Since 2009, AkzoNobel scholarship programme has helped promote and inspired hundreds of excellent students to pursue their majors.

“Supporting education and nurturing the growth of the next generation are among our key focuses in contributing to local communities where AkzoNobel is doing business,” said Pamela Phua, general director of AkzoNobel Paints Vietnam.

“Since last year, we have extended the scholarship from one university in Ho Chi Minh City to three, with others in Hanoi and Danang. With this programme and its expansion, we hope to provide more young people with better learning conditions and chances to practise their creativity in a sustainable way. They are the ones who will build our future country,” Phua added.

Nguyen Hoang Minh Vu, vice principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture, said that AkzoNobel has accompanied the university for 10 years, giving wings to hundreds of young talents to soar and bring their dreams into reality.

“It is great to see more students throughout the country getting a better chance to develop their talent. We always appreciate the efforts of companies like AkzoNobel for their corporate community responsibility, sustainable development policies, as well as companionship for the young Vietnamese generation,” said Vu.

Offering architecture students scholarships is the latest activity AkzoNobel implemented under AkzoNobel Cares, AkzoNobel’s initiative to improve living spaces and develop local communities through Let's Colour, Education Fund, Community Day, and other activities.

Earlier this year, under this initiative, AkzoNobel Vietnam also hosted the sixth year of the Orange ASEAN Factory Programme in Ho Chi Minh City – focusing on improving knowledge about sustainability and developing technical skills for potential startups and young enterprises.

Besides, AkzoNobel has contributed to improving the education environment through sponsorships for repainting projects to renew schools around the country with thousands of litres of paints.
